The Building Inspections Department provides efficient, responsive plan review and inspection services within the city. This is not an additional permit fee but is a non-refundable portion of the same building permit fee. If you receive a server error message or the inspection description identifies a prerequisite approval, visit the Customer Self Service portal and follow the instructions below. If the homeowner does not intend to perform all of the work, licensed subcontractors are required. Refer to the city’s Contractor Licensing website for additional information about when a licensed contractor is required.
- Once a building permit is issued, it is the responsibility of the permit holder and/or general contractor to request inspections in the proper sequence.
- Preservation staff are available to discuss projects on all historic-age properties (even those without historic overlay zoning) and can provide technical references to help avoid damage.
- Issuance Pending Review has been completed, however other approvals and/or fees are outstanding.
